No New Album For Janet Anytime Soon

Despite enjoying the limelight from both projects, Janet Jackson has revealed to Rolling Stone that she has not taken things a step further by recording a new studio album or even signing to a new label. Read what the diva had to say below:

“There was a time where I was actually in the studio and I was recording, but I’m not working on an album,” she says. “There have been a lot of record labels that have asked me to sit down and talk with them, but I don’t know if I want to do something completely independent, or go with a major.” Discipline was Jackson’s first disc on Def Jam after she left her longtime label Virgin.

So what about the new songs? “Nothing” is a one-off she co-wrote and co-produced with Jermaine Dupri for the new Tyler Perry film Why Did I Get Married Too?, and the lyrics reflect the tensions and turmoil between characters, like Angela’s trust issues with Marcus (”You can even have the password to my phone”), as well as her own character Patricia’s guilt and regret over Gavin (”We should cherish every moment like it’s the last”). As for the second song, Jackson said she did it as a favor for Rodney Jerkins, for “fun.”

When Jackson does return to the studio, she’s not sure whether she’ll work toward a classic pop album (as “Nothing” might indicate) or do something more dance club-oriented (like “Heartbeat Love”): “I haven’t decided on exactly where I want to go or what I want to do.”

Kelly Readys New Single

It has been confirmed that Grammy award winner is set to premiere the first international single from her hotly anticipated new album this weekend at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The track, which was penned by Rico Love and produced by David Guetta, has been confirmed to be titled "Commander". She is set to unveil the track in performance form at the event, and is currently in rehearsals in Los Angeles.

Lady GaGa Readys ‘Alejandro’

Lady GaGa is gearing up to shoot the clip for its follow-up "Alejandro". Speaking recently to Australian radio station Nova 96.9 FM, the 23 year old Pop phenomenon coyly shared a few tidbits on the video, which is said will be directed by Steven Klein:

“I’m so excited about the ‘Alejandro’ video,” she told the station. “Actually, we’re shooting it very soon and I don’t want to say who the director is yet because it’s going to give a lot away.”

When asked if she could reveal anything more, it was evident that she intends on keeping the music video’s concept secret.

“Are you absolutely mad? I would never, ever tell you!” she laughed. “I would be more likely to lie through my teeth to you what the video’s about so that you could all be surprised. But I will tell you it’s not the sequel to the ‘Telephone’ video.”

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has responded to a lawsuit a former producer of hers (named Rob Fusari) filed against her last week. Gaga, who goes by Stefani Germanotta when the courts are involved, claims that he broke the law by tricking her into signing an illegal contract. Her lawsuit states that the contract between her and Fusari isn’t legit because Fusari wasn’t a licensed talent agent. Lady Gaga and her lawyers want Fusari’s suit thrown out and they want him to pay damages for trying to take advantage of an “inexperienced performing artist.”

Fusari made Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, “enter into an unlawful arrangement” when he made her sign a contract giving him rights to her future earnings, the suit says, calling his actions “predatory and financially abusive.” “The … arrangement was structured in such a way as to mask its true purpose – to provide the defendant unlawful compensation for their services as unlicensed employment agents,” the suit says.

Germanotta and Fusari met in March 2006 when he was looking for a female rocker with “garage band chops,” according to his lawsuit. The producer, who worked with Destiny’s Child on “Bootylicious,” says he persuaded Germanotta to add dance beats to her music and call herself Lady Gaga. Fusari’s lawyer, Robert Meloni, called the claim “ludicrous” when he read the suit. “Rob was no more of an ‘agent’ for her than she is a Roman Catholic nun,” Meloni said.
