Monica Sale Wrap Up

Monica has earned the second-highest first week sales of her career with her "Still Standing". She sold 183,766 copies in its first week, landing at #2 on the Billboard 200. Justin Biber’s new LP "My World 2.0" took the top spot like I said it would.

Congratulations are no doubt in order for Monica. Her highest first week sales to-date come courtesy of 2003’s ‘After The Storm’; yet, in light of the current industry climate, one has every ground to say this record is arguably more successful. Unlike 7 years ago, folk simply do not buy music in the way they once did. Hence, not only is this a victory for Monica, it’s a victory for quality music!

With this unHollywood performance, you can stop asking me why I'm not her biggest fan. She was the ish back in the day, but standards have changed for me and she ain't cuttin it. For you, maybe she is good enough, then again "ya'll" made Rihanna sell records...And the hat...really???

Monica Speaks

Singer Monica broke up up with her famous rapper boyfriend and spoke with blogger sandra. This is the only statement that Monica will give. She asks that the media (and bloggers) respect her privacy during these trying times..

I know there were many rumors. And Sandra, I appreciate that you never dug into them for the sake of both our families. I am going to rest today & go back to work tomorrow. I am going to do what I have always done. Focus on my children, my family & my career. Rock was put under a lot of harsh scrutiny during our entire relationship and I’m sure that was not easy.

However at this point our focus is being great parents. He is a great father to his children and, continuing forward, that is my only concern. With every breath in our bodies we will make sure that they feel as little pain as possible And continue to have the lives they had before with no attention dedicated to our separation. I will not be speaking on the subject further unless it is with God whom I believe does everything with reason. I love my children and their father and I’m truly grateful for those that loved and supported us through the good and the bad throughout the years.

TGJ recently got an interview R&B singer Monica and this is what she had to say about her first encounter with pop singer Rihanna.

TGJ: Who would you say have been the nicest and rudest celebrities you’ve met to date?
Monica: I was really surprised, Rihanna and I use the same makeup artist sometimes, and I called her phone the other day and I was talking to Myla and she said ‘Oh my God we’re listening to you’ and I said who, and I heard somebody with an accent say [does an accent] ‘who are you talking to, that can’t be Monica…. I love her, oh my God’ and we talked and it was heart-warming for one to see someone that’s a of a superstar status enjoy my music and is not afraid to say ‘look, I love your work, I love what you do, I love your voice’. I think it’s important for all of us to stay humble enough to pay respect to those who came before us in any way and that was very heart warming for me.

I'm not feelin her right now, maybe cuz deep down her label doesn't believe in her..Not to mention the fact that hate that she decided to go ahead with this single. Needless to say the song doesn't move me... I couldn't even watch the video cuz the song is so bad...and I just checked some blog comments and I'm not the only one that feels this way. Some people had to put the video on mute, I could have done that but I didn't care that much...

Monica's New Album

R&B star Monica’s new LP ‘Still Standing’ has officially been confirmed to hit stores on March 23rd, according to the singer’s official website. The creative process surrounding the album, the singer’s sixth, was documented on ratings winner ‘Still Standing’, which recently aired its last episode on BET.

As at writing, the album’s first single, the Missy Elliott produced ‘Everything To Me’, is performing particularly well – rocketing to #31 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B Chart and enjoying increasing radio play. yawn
