Chrisette Pulls A Britney

R&B Singer Chrisette Michelle is the latest to shave her head. After a recent show at Albany State University, she explained her decision to chop it all off:

“I was tired of black sista’s feeling subject to having their hair pressed and straightened, and damaged, with relaxers, and heat. So I wanted to make short and nappy hair fashionable, and let the industry know that there is nothing wrong with the texture that we have been born with. So I plan to grow it out to the big beautiful nappy hair that I have.”

Trey Songz features on the cover of the latest issue of VIBE magazine. As ever, the ‘Say Ahh’ singer is selling his sex-appeal and not much else. In any case, whatever works… But I can't lie to you he has accomplish a lot in the past few years. Seems as tho someone's downfall was the best thing to happen to him.

Monica Sale Wrap Up

Monica has earned the second-highest first week sales of her career with her "Still Standing". She sold 183,766 copies in its first week, landing at #2 on the Billboard 200. Justin Biber’s new LP "My World 2.0" took the top spot like I said it would.

Congratulations are no doubt in order for Monica. Her highest first week sales to-date come courtesy of 2003’s ‘After The Storm’; yet, in light of the current industry climate, one has every ground to say this record is arguably more successful. Unlike 7 years ago, folk simply do not buy music in the way they once did. Hence, not only is this a victory for Monica, it’s a victory for quality music!

Monica beat Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and even Mariah Carey in sales her first week.

Rihanna Readys New Single Again

Rihanna and her team have been having some difficulty choosing the next single from her "Rated R" album. First the word I received is they were going with "Photographs" for the next last single. That was on top of the fact that they leaked the news that there would be no more singles from the album and another (album)was in the works.

Ain't Gaga coming out with a Latin flavored song for her next single???
Other than the fact that she came out with this song over a year ago and then put it on her new album and didn't even bother to change it up some...

Kelly's Team Begs

Kelly Rowland’s label Universal Motown seems to be begging pulling out all the stops for the video for "Commander" her next lead single.
As well as pumping very little their own funds into the video, the label are seeking out top brands to feature their products in the clip.

KELLY ROWLAND is seeking a new partner for her latest music video – the singer’s reps have sent out mass emails urging big brands to appear in the promo.

The former Destiny’s Child star is following the record industry’s latest craze of teaming up with famous companies to cover the cost of music videos.

Her reps at Universal Motown are on the hunt for marketing executives to pay for their products to appear in the promo for the debut single from Rowland’s new record – her first since parting ways with ex-manager Mathew Knowles and former label Columbia Records.

The email reads, “We are currently seeking brands who want to partner with us for the upcoming (Grammy-winning, platinum-selling) Kelly Rowland music video for the first single off of (sic) her new album.

“We are primed for an outstanding project. This will be a video that is serviced around the world.”

Seems pretty tacky to beg via the net for this. Artist do it all the time, just not so publicly while in the planning stages of it all...

Keri Is A Mess Lately

Keri Hilson making an ass of herself lately had quite the embarrassing episode last night at the LA Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks game. While performing the US National Anthem Hilson blanked out, forgetting the words to the iconic song in front of the thousands in attendance. Karma???



After suffering an embarrassing episode earlier this week, she tried her hand at the US National Anthem again yesterday (April 4th) at the Yanks vs Red Sox game in Boston. Fortunately for Hilson, she didn’t forget the words this go round. wack...



I'm also hearing she called her Mom a bitch on twitter of course. Some hater called Keri's mom a bitch on twitter and instead of her ignoring them she said this:

 Even if that's how you really feel, you don't air that news publicly. Rihanna is being all positive for a new PSA. No seriouly tho, she partnered with DKMS to raise awareness about the leukemia and encourage her fans to donate bone marrow to help save the lives of those affected.

Sean Paul has been off the music radar for some time now, however the Jamaican made a rare appearance at a basketball game yesterday (March 26th) – sporting an interesting new hair cut; trading his renown cornrows for a low mohawk. Oh god Why?
 I hope it grow on me, betta yet I hope it grow out on him...Just give me the light and some cornrows..

Drake Sets Album Date

Drake has finally scheduled a release date for his debut album. The collection, entitled "Thank Me Later", will hit stores on May 25th. The project’s lead single, "Over", has already positioned itself at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 without the assistance of a music video. A clip for the track will be shot by famed director Anthony Mandler and released within the upcoming weeks. "Thank Me Later" will feature contributions from Jay-Z' Kanye West and The-Dream, among others.

"Papers" Written Before Tameeka

In a somewhat unbelievable turn of events, Usher has revealed that his recent song ‘Papers’ was actually written before the end of his marriage. The R&B singer shared the information about the buzz single for his new album, ‘Raymond vs Raymond’, in an interview with MTV News earlier today. ‘Papers’, which peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart, seemed to be taking jabs at his now ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and quickly gained radio play for its controversial lyrics.

Tyler Perry’s "Why Did I Get Married Too?" has grossed $30,150,000 – besting the first film’s debut box office sum by more than $10 million. Originally set for the top spot, the movie debuted at #2 behind ‘Clash of the Titans’, which rocketed to #1 after grossing a whopping $61,400,000 during the same period.

Janet Jackson’s visit to the Oprah Winfrey Show aired a few hours ago. Though the singer, 43, was there to promote new movie ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’ - along with Tyler Perry, she opened up a lot when questioned about the passing of her brother, Michael, last year. Indeed, Jackson candidly spoke about where she was when she heard the news, the family’s attempted intervention, how they knew he had a problem, Dr Murray, fondest memories of MJ, and a whole lot more.

Christina Aguilera debuted her new song, "Not Myself Tonight" on "I-Heart Radio". The track is the first single from her upcoming "Bionic" album. The album hits stores on June 8th.
Oh God how I hate it. It's hard to explain but it's like one of those songs you rather start a good conversation with someone in the club and let the track be background music. I told you it's hard to explain. I don't like it and she can do much betta than this...uhhh...

Ciara is gearing up to take the radio airwaves by storm with her new Ludacris assisted track, "Ride", another song from the entertainer has surfaced. Similar to "Ride", "Speechless" was written and produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Ciara’s yet-untitled LP hits stores hits stores later this year.



While by no means a Ciara fan I'm kinda feelin the track itself and if done by some young lady that can sing and bring the song to life that would be real Hollywood. Be that as it may, it's still Hollywood. Not feeling that fact that The Dream sounds like R Kelly tho...

They were also spotted at the Hawks vs Pistons game in Atlanta. Cute shoes Ci, they are the new Mickey Mouse themed kicks and are apart of Adidas’ latest ‘Originals’ range – which the 24 year old is the spokes-model for.
Her team really do not appear to be playing with her forthcoming album. A previously reported, the singer shot the video for the album's lead single "Ride"; The Tricky Stewart/The-Dream crafted track features Ludacris and serves as the first single from her upcoming album.
